Our setting in the middle of the South Oxfordshire countryside couldn’t be more idyllic. In the heart of an ancient village, The Star is everything you want in a country restaurant. It combines a welcoming bar with exceptional restaurant. There is also a sunny outdoor terrace and a lawned garden area next to a babbling brook. And, if you want to stay a night or two there’s a separate barn with eight luxurious bedrooms.

The Star Inn was built in 1720 but is a relative newcomer in a village whose church dates back to the 14th century. It’s a building that has beautiful bones featuring simple Georgian architecture with high ceilings and an airy sense of space. Our eight bedrooms are set in a separate barn, again dating back to the eighteenth century, and the structure has been converted sympathetically to reflect its agricultural roots with exposed beams and rustic floors.

There are countless country walks on our doorstep including the famous Ridgeway, so if you want to get out and about in beautiful scenery and fresh country air you couldn’t be in a better place. And after a long day’s walking, or even just a short stroll, where better to come back to than The Star for a restorative drink in our inviting bar or an enjoyable meal in our restaurant.

The Star is the perfect place for a romantic getaway and a glorious spot for a wedding celebration. Our casually luxurious eight bedrooms are designed to envelop you in soft textures and calm colours that reflect our beautiful countryside setting. The quiet rooms in our separate barn are beautifully restful but just seconds away from an elegant bar and our exceptional restaurant.
